Tom Anderson - Coach
From sunny Southern California, Coach Tom Anderson spent his youth surfing and swimming for the Seal Beach Swim Club which led him straight into water polo as a freshman at Los Alamitos High School. He led his team in goals his senior year in 1987 and won the Orange County-based Empire League for the first time. He later attended USC and earned a spot on the 16-member varsity squad as a sophomore. The following year, he put water polo to rest. Decades later Anderson became an assistant coach for St. Xavier High School varsity boy’s water polo team, co-head coach for the Moose girls 18U team, coached Mid-Michigan Raptor Club, and head coach for the Sycamore High School girls varsity team where he won the Girl's Ohio HS Coach of The Year in 2022. Outside of water polo, Coach Anderson is a Los Angeles-based advertising executive and small business operations consultant, He now resides in DeWitt, MI with healthcare marketing superstar, and Purdue Boilermaker, wife Kara, and middle school twin daughters Rae and Gus. Coach Anderson looks forward to calling the Spartans and Michigan State University his new water polo home as the men’s head coach this fall 2023.

Chandler Jones - President
President Chandler Jones is currently a junior at Michigan State. A construction management major focused on sustainable construction, Jones has played water polo for 11 years since he was in 5th grade. Chandler was a two-year varsity water polo and swim captain for the Hudsonville Eagles, helping lead the Eagles to a water polo state championship his senior year (2019-2020), and a third-place finish in the state swim meet his junior year (2018-2019). Recognized for his senior year water polo efforts, Jones was named a 2020 NISCA All-American. He can't wait to see what the team can do and wants to get another national championship title to his name. Go green!

Cooper Randall - Vice President
Cooper Randall is currently a freshman at Michigan State. A sustainability major from Hudsonville, Michigan, Cooper started swimming in elementary school and has played water polo since he was in seventh grade. Being a goaltender for
his high school team from 2018 to 2022, he helped lead them to three state championships. Cooper was named team captain during his senior year and has also stepped into a leadership position on the MSU water polo team. Post-undergraduate, Cooper hopes to work in the fields of geology and ecology at a National Park. He wholeheartedly loves the sport of water polo and cannot wait to get back in the pool with his team.

Ian Worst - Treasurer
Treasurer Ian Worst is currently a junior at Michigan State. An accounting major, Ian has played water polo for ten years after Chandler and Mrs. Jones talked him into it. He became a two-year varsity water polo captain, in addition, he captained the swim team his senior year as well. Worst is a part of Hudsonville's 2019 state championship team, winning the state season, and championship tournament MVP awards in the state of Michigan. Ian was also a part of the Eagle's third-place finish in the state swim meet his junior year. Ian was named a NISCA 1st-Team All-American for water polo his senior year. Post-undergraduate, Ian hopes to go to graduate school to earn his MSA in accounting and then become a CPA. The go-ahead goal scorer and game-winning shot-blocker of the national championship game cannot wait to try and repeat as national champion.

Luke Sayler - Team Apparel Chair
Apparel Chair Luke Sayler is from Dexter, Michigan, and is currently a junior at Michigan State. He is majoring in fisheries and wildlife and a minor in sustainability. Sayler swam for years before he was introduced to water polo in 8th grade and since then, he's never stopped playing. He was captain for both swim and water polo in high school and during his senior season as captain, the Dreadnaughts finished second in the state. Sayler earned 1st-team All-State honors and earned a NISCA All-American bid. He is also a proud Eagle Scout and a member of the MSU Sierra Club. Sayler is looking forward to getting back in shape with friends and playing MSU polo.

Matt Welmerink - Social Media Chair
Social Media Chair Matt Welmerink from Hudsonville, Michigan, is currently a freshman at Michigan State. A marketing major, Matt first started swimming in 8th grade where he grew a deep passion for aquatic sports and was introduced to water polo his sophomore year by his friends. Since then, he help lead the Hudsonville Eagles to win State Champions in both 2021 and 2022. Matt hopes to lead the Spartans to another National Championship, but in doing so, building relationships and strengthening the team along the way.

Henry Mason- Secretary
Secretary Henry Mason is currently a junior at Michigan State. A construction management major from Marin County, California, Henry first started swimming when he was 7, which eventually translated to joining club water polo at 11. He played all through middle school and high school where he won 4 straight county titles and one North Coast Section D1 title. Henry loves how mentally challenging the sport is alongside the physicality. He is eager to strengthen team bonding, which, as he learned from previous seasons, plays a major role in our team's performance.
